Going all in.

Hey All,

Thanks for stopping by the mother ship.  It’s pretty crazy around here still and I’m trying to keep my head above water while juggling my personal and professional life.

I still feel confident in saying that I’ll be on schedule in launching my next series as a kindle exclusive and am aiming for an early July release date.  I of course will keep you all posted as the time approaches.

I’d like to thank everyone for the mostly warm reception my pulp novel The Geek has received and would like to also answer the question I get asked the most.

Yes, I am planning a sequel to The Geek…of sorts.  The next book in the series will be called Stillwater and is centered around the character Marion Stillwater who seems to be a fan favorite from The Geek.  Gary will play a prominent role in that story as will the goings on of “the family” but it will most definitely be Marion’s story.

I am fleshing out the details as time permits and will most likely go whole hog into the writing process of that one sometime in August for a January/February 2017 release date.  I know that sounds far off but it’s really not.  Again I will keep everyone posted.

My sci-fi screenplay “Ur Perfekt” has started making the rounds to producers and studios.  As with all things entertainment industry that will either end in triumph (payday) or misery(with still a possible payday)

Now let’s get on with the whoring.

I’ve gone all in with the social media insanity and continue to grow my online presence which evidently is a thing now and even though it’s a lot of work I am enjoying it.

The most recent addition to the mediocre empire that is Jonathan Latt Amalgamated is my Youtube channel  I am slowly beginning to upload videos and there will be a new one tomorrow and Sunday.  So go ahead and check it out if you’re stuck between cat videos and people getting hit in the nuts.  http://bit.ly/1Sf9MXN

There’s a new podcast up and streaming over at podbean and ITunes. Amongst other insanity I regale the audience with my attempt at intergalactic diplomacy by engaging in this thing humans call intercourse with a proud Klingon female. http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

My novel is continuing to trend nicely and if you’re interested in seeing what others have to say stop on by goodreads where you can check out the listopia, ratings and reviews of The Geek before you buy. http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

If you’re not into goodreads you can swing by amazon.com http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6 where I think there are over 20 reviews for it at this point, mostly positive ones.  That may not sound like much but for an indie writer it’s not bad.

If you’re in the UK I’ve got some good reviews on amazon’s UK site as well, and it’s also now available in paperback and ebook.  No reviews yet on Canada’s amazon but it’s also available as paperback in Canada now and I was told this morning that people seem to be ordering it in paperback which is cool.

Or, if you live in the Los Angeles area and just want to take my word on how awesome The Geek is (sucker!) head on over to Skylight books in the Los Feliz area.  It’s a great indie bookstore and those really need to be supported.

And hey why not follow me on twitter, I always follow back unless your a porn bot or trying to sell me twitter or instagram followers http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

And let’s facebook because that’s still a thing http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

Well thanks for stopping by, I’m off to do some shooting for Youtube so that should be fun.

I do hope everyone has a great rest of the week and a fun weekend.

See you all next week.

Best,

Jonathan

Batman, Superman and Hate Boners

If I may I’d like to start this post off by stating the obvious; I’m a geek.  Everybody who knows me knows this.  Anybody who’s read my pulp novel titled (oddly enough) The Geek certainly knows this.

20151012_100308

I am a life long lover of comic books, sci-fi and fantasy.  The only video games I tend to play are either sci-fi or fantasy games.

Once I was a part of a ridiculed minority, now of course the 21st century becomes more and more, everyday, the century of the geek.  We’ve gone mainstream baby!

There are currently (roughly) at least ten shows on television that are either superhero based or based on a comic book.  I am including in this things like Netflix with Daredevil and Jessica Jones as well as the broadcast networks with shows like Supergirl, Lucifer, Arrow and Flash.  Add into this mix the most excellent show Powers that streams on the playstation network and we’re barely past the tip of the iceberg on what’s out there and what is yet to come.

I did not go see Batman versus Superman when it first came out, rarely do I go to movies on opening weekends anymore.  This is due mainly to my schedule more than anything else but it is what it is.

I did finally see it last week and quite frankly I’m a little confused about all the hate.  Don’t get me wrong, this is not a great movie and not even close to perfect, but it is a good film.

Perhaps, because of all of the shit talking and negative reviews I saw on youtube and online my opinion, by the time I went, was so low that it would have had to truly be a suck fest for me to hate it, but I didn’t.  This of course doesn’t mean I didn’t have problems with it, because I did.

First I think we can all agree that Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was a terrible choice and the choices he made in regards to how he portrayed the role were very much wrong.  Lex Luthor is not The Joker.  Lex Luthor has a very well established history.  His traits and character are so well defined over the past sixty some odd years that this never should have been allowed to happen.

I like Jesse Eisenberg as an actor.  I enjoyed him in Zombie Land and Social Network but this was just a wrong move.  But I don’t blame Jesse Eisenberg for this, I blame Zack Snyder for this.

Jesse may have actually been a good choice, if the director had a clearer idea of how Lex Luthor should have been portrayed.  But I can only assume, since Zack Snyder is not a push over, that he liked this portrayal of an iconic character, in which case I just feel it shows a lack of respect and understanding about Lex Luthor’s history and motivations.

Of course Zack has gotten a lot of crap for what he’s done in regards to the movie but for me it was the Lex thing that I found most annoying.

I think we’ve all read the blog posts and seen the outrage videos by people who can’t believe that Zack killed off Jimmy Olsen without even mentioning him by name.  Quite frankly that didn’t bother me.  Jimmy Olsen is not important to what Warner Brothers and DC are trying to do and killing him off, while possibly disrespectful to the history of the Superman universe is not a huge loss.

The other problem(s) I had with the movie I think are pretty much the same as everyone else.  The retelling of the Batman origin for the billionth time seemed a bad choice and every interview I’ve read or heard by Snyder about his reasons for including this are freaking weak.

The only reason he included this origin scene was so that the audience would hear the word “Martha” come out of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s mouth.  This was to be “paid off” nearly two and a half hours later when Superman says the word “Martha”.

For me as for most of you, this did not in fact work.  It was the weakest, thinnest and quite frankly laziest way for Batman to find some sort of solidarity with this (Super)man he’s been hate bonering on for the entirety of the film.

However, I will say that it did not bother me as much as it bothered pretty much everybody else I’ve talked to.  I get it, I know why they did it, I just think it was kind of lazy.

I’m gonna get to the good stuff in a second but I’ll just finish up my criticism with my own analysis of why DC and Warner Brother’s approach is doomed to failure if they don’t take a breath and rethink their strategy.

I understand that Marvel is absolutely crushing it when it comes to their cinematic universe and that DC is late to the game to compete.  However, playing “catch up” is not (IMO) the way to go here.

Marvel made a decision early on with the first Iron Man movie about their long term game plan in building their universe.  DC/WB trying to throw everything into basically one movie to jump start their own cinematic, all encompassing, universe is a potential disaster just waiting to happen.

Not that Marvel hasn’t made any missteps, but for the most part they’ve really done this right.  I still have a serious problem with them not doing a stand alone Black Widow movie; which if done correctly would be freaking incredibly.  But for the most part they’ve been really smart.

If DC doesn’t do things right from here on out, they are just going to be wallowing in suck.  Having said all that there is hope, and I do hope it does work out because I grew up reading the books these cinematic characters are based on and I want to see them live on film.

20160331_213459

It looks like they are giving Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman movie the respect it deserves and doing it properly and that’s great.  When I saw her in the Wonder Woman outfit on screen in B vs S I was singularly impressed with how bad ass she looked and have no doubts that she really can pull off the complexities of the character.

The comic books have really done a lot over the past twenty plus years to make it very clear who and what Wonder Woman is and if they respect the source material I think they’ve really got the potential for a serious hit with the stand alone movie.

Wonder Woman (in the books) is just about as powerful as Superman, she is a force to be reckoned with and can hold her own against that baddest of the bad.  Hopefully this will shine through as she was certainly one of the highlights for me in B vs. S.

Unlike most people I know, I was actually very excited when I heard Ben Affleck had been cast as The Dark Knight.  Early on the rumor mill swirled with how Ben would be playing an older, more war hardened Batman based on Frank Miller’s amazing The Dark Knight Returns book.

For me the thing that makes Batman work is if the actor understands what Bruce Wayne really is.  Michael Keaton understood it best (IMOagain) but Ben Affleck seemed to grasp it strongly as well.

Simply put, Bruce Wayne is the costume, the fake identity, Bruce Wayne does not exist, he’s a cover, a paper doll.  Barman is the real personality hiding under the Bruce Wayne costume all the time.

I think Ben Affleck is a really strong Batman because he understands this.

I’m not gonna go back and start nitpicking all the things wrong with this movie because I understand that while they’re going about it in a possibly stupid way, I know what the end goal is.

If Aquaman, Wonder Woman, the next Superman and Batman movies are all done right it’s going to be okay and all shall be redeemed.  From what little I saw however, I do think Cyborg could end up being the most interesting character.

But, there is one member that for me needs to be included in the Justice League for it to truly be The Justice League and without this member, it’s just always gonna look half assed to me.

I’m talking about The Green Lantern.  This is of course incredibly personal since The Green Lantern is my favorite comic book character of all time (tied with Daredevil and Spider Jerusalem).  If they don’t figure out a way to include him, it’s just not going to work.

And when I say Green Lantern I’m not talking about John Stewart, Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner, I’m talking Hal Jordan.

We all know the catastrophuck that was The Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds was an embarrassment.  I know it, you know it, Ryan Reynolds knows it.  But much like The Hulk films on the Marvel side (first one sucked, second one was an above “meh”) it deserves a second chance.

I was really excited about Green Lantern when it came out.  I even thought casting Ryan Reynolds was okay.  I like Ryan Reynolds, always have and was hoping he could pull it off, but everything from the tone to the story was crap, and the little gushy power battery I call my heart was crushed when I saw it.

Though I’ve never sported a hate boner* for Ryan Reynolds I do think he was miscast in the role and the tone was wrong.

In short, the movie was terrible for many reasons but it should be given a reboot.

Hal Jordan is iconic, he brings a skill set to the league that it needs and should be included.

I think I’ve gotten off on a ridiculous tangent here but, let me just sum up my feelings on this and why I think the haters need to take a breather, chill and go watch B vs. S again, which I plan on doing next week.

Keep in mind what they’re attempting to do and where they’re trying to go.

Try not to think about how they’ve combined both The Death of Superman storyline and elements of The Dark Knight Returns which should never be combined no matter how loosely.

Considering TDKR was one of the greatest Batman stories ever written by one of the greatest writers to put pen to paper, it deserves far more respect than Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers gave it.

There were parts of B vs S that I really, really liked and I felt the two and a half hours went fairly quickly.  As someone who’s been reading comics since I was seven years old I’m about as big of a fanboy as they come and I think the hate is really unwarranted.

Disappointment sure but hate, no.

We have a solid foundation here people.  A very strong Batman played by Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill has done a great job humanizing a god like alien and of course Amy Adams as Lois Lane is fine and Gal Gadot truly has Wonder Woman down.  Jason Momoa is absolutely perfect for an updated Aquaman.

As for Cyborg and Flash that remains to be seen but I’m open, especially about Cyborg.

So go give it another try, no I’m not being paid by Warner Brothers or Zack Snyder.

Though a t-shirt wouldn’t kill them.

Next week, why Suicide Squad is really important and why I’ve been excited from GO!

In the meantime why not head on over to goodreads and check out the (mostly) awesome reviews and ratings for my pulp novel The Geek http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

The Geek is available online everywhere, but you can get paperbacks from Amazon.com, UK and Canada.  It’s also now being carried by Skylight Books here in Los Angeles on Vermont.  Skylight is a great independent bookstore and we need to support those.  So if you’re reading this and live in L.A. then head on over and pick up a copy.

But hey if you’re not http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

There’s a brand new podcast up today.  This week the bro-host and I are talking food, it’s our second biggest passion next to nerd things http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

And why not follow me on twitter…don’t cost nothin’  http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

And we’re still on Facebook because I haven’t done anything with my tumblr account yet   http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

Here’s a couple of reviews for The Geek, because it helps my self esteem:

Thanks for stopping by everybody, see you next Wednesday and I hope you all have a great rest of the week and fun weekend.

Sincerely,

Jonathan

*Yes I used the phrase Hate Boner twice.  I did it for no other reason than I wanted to use the phrase Hate Boner.  I also used catastrophuck, but that one I think was warranted.

With that small paragraph I’ve now been able to use the phrase Hate Boner four times.

Now five!

What the hell….HATE BONER!

Good Days & Bad Days

Hey all thanks for swinging by the mother ship.

So I’ve been very fortunate so far with my little pulp novel in that it has received mostly positive reviews and at times even mind blowing amazing reviews on websites, blogs, amazon and goodreads.

I’ve been preparing for the inevitable bads and have received a couple and will receive more but as prepared as I am, it doesn’t mean they don’t sting.

It is part of the deal I made with readers and I knew that going in.  However, I will say that there is a big difference between negative feedback when it comes to a screenplay and negative feedback when it comes to a book.

With a screenplay you may not ever sell it and people may in fact tell you why they think it’s shit, but this tends to be a private affair between the writer and the executive or producer who has read the script.

It still hurts and will always happen way more than hearing about how much someone loves your script but it doesn’t end up on the internet.

Not so with books.  And it is in fact this public praising/shaming that leads to a roller coaster ride of emotions (and occasionally about a half dozen doughnuts).

For example here’s a great review I got for The Geek http://bit.ly/1nimk7v  When I read this review I basically lost my mind.  I mean this is one hell of a love letter for a book I poured so much of my soul into.

But then I woke up yesterday and this was waiting for me http://bit.ly/1M7bs2F  Yeah, ouch!

The tweet of this review was retweeted like 12 times and that stung even more, but such is the world we live in.

Did I take the reviewers opinion of my book as a personal attack?  Of course not.  Did it suck to be me yesterday?  Oh yes, it sucked big sweaty donkey balls.

This was basically my expression all day yesterday 20150926_151118Tell me, honestly, do I look happy to you?

So now here’s the big question, which review is right and which review is wrong?

Unfortunately, they’re both right.  Which sucks but it’s the truth.

A sincere review is an opinion and you can’t invalidate a person’s opinion just because you don’t like it.

Now if I may be uncharacteristically optimistic for a moment there is in fact something positive I took away from the bad review and that is simply this:

The person (Ben Walker) didn’t just write “This book sucks don’t waste your money” in fact that’s not what this review is at all.

Ben obviously read my book and it seems to me he certainly didn’t skim through it, but actually took the time to read it from cover to cover; and man he did not like my book that much.  But then, he wrote a very thoughtful and detail oriented review of it.  He didn’t just shit on it, he really seems to go out of his way to explain why the book didn’t work for him.

And you know what?  That’s totally fair and quite honestly, greatly appreciated.

He gave it a four out of ten so yeah not thrilled but at least it wasn’t a two out of ten, so hey, positivity!

Suffice it to say I really like the review by The Two Gay Geeks a lot more than I like Ben Walker’s review of my book.

But I honestly respect both reviews equally.

Tomorrow I’ll wake up and there may be another good review of my book, the day after that another bad.  The roller coaster will never stop and this is the life I have chosen.

And even though yesterday was not an amazing day to be me, it’s still better than having a real job.

Seriously those things suck.

So if you’re a writer or thinking about writing just keep that in mind.  A good review is great but a bad review (while not so great) is just as valid.  Unless the bad review is just filled with personal attacks in which case you can probably take that personally.

Anyhoo if you’d like to take a shot at reading The Geek it’s available in paperback from Amazon in the USA, UK and Canada and is also available as an ebook from amazon worldwide, ITunes and pretty much everywhere you can get a wifi connection.  But hey here’s a link to my amazon author’s page http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6  I also have a tiny short story collection available from Amazon.  It’s ebook only but is free if you have kindle unlimited and only .99 cents if you don’t.

You can also stop by goodreads and check it out over there.  There’s links to lots of different outlets other than amazon from that site.  And if you have a question, feel free to ask I’m always happy to interact.  http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

Over on Reluctant Joy I’ve posted the last original post on that site as I begin to move everything over here.  It’s a little micro-story called STATION and I hope you like it http://bit.ly/1CzTcZn

Currently over on Podbean and ITunes we’re talking about JFK, 9/11, aliens and masturbation…don’t ask http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH  A brand new podcast will be up and available next week.  I certainly appreciate how much everyone loves the new format and hope you keep coming back.  We’ll be switching back to a weekly schedule most likely in May as my personal schedule should allow for that by then.

I’m almost done with the initial recording session of the audio book version of The Geek (which is one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever had…ugh!) and that should be available by the end of the month and I’ll keep you all informed.

I’ve also been asked to speak at a local con here in Los Angeles in mid-may and once that’s all set in stone I’ll let everyone know what it is I’m doing and how you can get involved if you’d like.

And I’ve finally set up my Youtube account and will begin posting videos in April.  They will be a mix of vlogs, sketches (if I’m being honest mostly masturbation and fart based humor) opinion crap and a few other random things I find fun.  The goal of the channel is to simply be a place where a viewer can come and watch something to take their mind off the stress of the world and hopefully have a laugh.

In the meantime why not follow me on twitter, I always follow back unless you’re a porn bot or trying to sell me twitter followers.  Seriously people, if I wanted to buy twitter followers I’d have way more twitter followers.  http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

And hey, let’s do some facebooking because it’s there and I made the bitly link for it http://bit.ly/1CuSZqA

All right folks, thanks for stopping by.  I hope everyone  has a great rest of the week and a really fun weekend.

See you next Wednesday.

Best,

Jonathan

Spring time in winter

Hey All,

I hope everyone is having a great week.  Things with me are well and life keeps chugging along.

It’s near perfect here in Los Angeles, like we’re heading into summer already. Which quite frankly is a bit terrifying since it’s early February and we should be drowning in rain and freezing our collective butts off…well what we consider freezing, but it’s all relative so don’t judge.

I’ll be heading to Las Vegas for a few days next week which honestly I’m a bit nervous about.  I’ve never been to Las Vegas sober and the last time I was there I was still drinking and as usual shit got crazy.

For the first time ever I’ll be staying in a hotel with no casino and far off the strip just to hedge my bets.  I’m going in taking care of business and getting the hell out pronto.

I’m quite happy and secure in my sobriety but why make things harder on myself by visiting old haunts and tempting fate.

Well let’s get on to the fun stuff.

I had the tremendous pleasure of sitting down with Ben and Keith of the Two Gay Geeks podcast recently.  We spent about an hour talking and it felt far less like an interview and more like a conversation you’d have with old friends.

We talked about my pulp novel The Geek and also nerded out on various topics from Dr. Who, to Blake’s 7, comic books and more.  It was a lot of fun and is available here for your listening pleasure http://tggeeks.com/blog/2016/02/08/tg-geeks-webcast-episode-59/

They also took the time to review my novel and quite frankly I’m a bit overwhelmed with how much they enjoyed it.  Many kind words from two very kind gents.  If you haven’t picked up a copy and would like to read their review it’s available here http://tggeeks.com/blog/2016/02/08/the-geek-violence-death-and-geeks-oh-my/

As for my usual shenanigans, there’s a brand new post up on my blog Reluctant Joy.  This week I have written the most incredible, politically correct, love story ever told.  It’s called 42.6 Shades of Tumblr and you can give it a read here http://bit.ly/rljywp

The current episode of Stuff N Stuff is up and available for download or streaming.  You can catch it on iTunes or go straight to the source at podbean.  There will be a new episode next week about things that should be mandatory in relationships, but if you’d like to spend a half-hour listening to two morons complain about toxic food that’s all right here http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

I’m always stopping by goodreads where all the cool book nerds hang out so swing on by, ask a question and browse the virtual stacks http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

My novel The Geek seems to be making readers happy which is great.  We’re just about out of first editions and will be going to a second printing which is very cool.  If you’d like to pick up a first edition paperback you can do so on amazon.  It’s of course also available as an ebook pretty much everywhere.  We’re also going to be expanding and making sure that the book is available as a paperback in both the UK and Canada due to the demand. http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

I have a small collection of short stories that is exclusive to amazon called D’jinn and Other Stories.  It’s only 99 cents, but free with kindle unlimited.  HOWEVER!  The ebook will be free for everyone on Monday February 15th in honor of Presidents Day.  Why Presidents day?  Mainly so I can use the tagline “Hail to the Cheap”.  What?  That’s clever I don’t care what you think.  http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

Of course you can follow me on twitter if you’re so inclined http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

And don’t forget the old facebook http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

Well thanks for stopping by.  I hope everyone has an excellent rest of the week and a super fun weekend.

See y’all next Wednesday.

Best,

Jonathan

Happy Holidays!

I know some people get mad at that, the all encompassing Happy Holidays thing but well how do I know what religion you are, so this just seems better.

I do usually wish people a merry Christmas when I see them but mainly because it’s force of habit and just seems cheery.  I am not religious and do not adhere to a mainstream religion but I do love this time of year.

Out here in Los Angeles lights have been going up and continue to go up around the city.  It’s a holly jolly time of year and always makes me happy.  The constant flow of ham and cookies doesn’t hurt either.

I hope things are looking cheery in your neck of the woods wherever that may be and that you’re in a happy holiday mood.

Okay I probably got a little carried away there but can’t help it, it’s a fun time of year.

Have you gotten all your shopping done?  Is there a sociopath in your life who likes to read in between planning monumental crime sprees?  Well have I got the book for you.  It’s my novel The Geek and it’s filled with sex, violence, revenge, prostitutes, a transvestite anarchist and an entire house filled with unicorns and pornography.  Now if that doesn’t say “Merry Christmas ya Psycho!” I don’t know what does.

Why don’t you head on over to amazon and pick up a copy for the bat shit crazy person in your life http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

Are you a book nerd like me?  Do you like hanging with other book nerds?  Well head on over to goodreads and we’ll hang out together http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

Over on the podcast my buddy Mike and I are talking about lots of stuff from infrastructure to SJWs, gun rights and more, lot’s of light hearted conversation to get you through the holidays http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

Over on Reluctant Joy there’s a new micro-story up called SUN and continues the theme http://bit.ly/rljywp

Wanna follow me on twitter?  Course ya do http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

Facebook?  I can hook you up http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

And hey, I really want to thank you for stopping by and hope you’re having a great holiday season whatever you celebrate.

I’ll be back Wednesday with new stuff!

Best,

Jonathan

Happy Monday, let’s do this!

Hello Again and welcome back to the mother ship.

I’ve been obsessing over some new music this weekend.  Currently I’ve got Adele’s and Cold Play’s new albums on heavy rotation and man I am just a grooving fool.

Annie Lennox will probably always be my favorite vocalist, there’s something about that voice that gives me goose bumps every time I hear it, but Adele is inching up day by day, year by year.  That lady is just really something.  I highly recommend you check that out.

Cold Play gets a lot of shit from people, I don’t know why I think they’re awesome and I don’t care what you think, it’s damn good stuff.

But if you’re in the mood for some indie stuff and you want more unsolicited recommendations from someone you don’t know, with absolutely no qualifications I have two; The Screaming Females and Dengue Fever are both awesome and should be shoved into your Spotify or whatever you use to listen.  I use cds because I’m old and that’s how I roll.

Have you stopped by my amazon page to waste time and possibly pick up a copy of my novel or short story collection yet?  Well why not?  I mean it’s not like you’re not going to end up on amazon eventually for some reason.  You know it’s not just a site to pick up bulk candy bars and sexual lubricants, it’s got books too, lot’s of them and two of them are mine.

http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

My novel The Geek has even been professionally reviewed and that really insightful person gave it five out of five stars.  No I did not have to perform any sexual favors.  Yes I would have considered it.

http://bit.ly/1MAAyZQ

Over on Reluctant Joy I’m continuing my esoteric themed micro story extravaganza today it’s FIRE http://bit.ly/rljywp

Over on the podcast I’m hanging with my buddy Tyler and his pal Josh and we are really getting our nerd on so if you’re into that sort of thing why not head over, it don’t cost nothin’ http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

Tweets?  Of course http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

Facebook? You bet! http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

And why not stop by goodreads and check out my page there, I’m happy to answer any questions you have, even ones about math, but I’m pretty sure my answer’s will be wrong with the math questions http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

I’ve got to skedaddle lots of stuff going on around here but I do want to thank you for stopping by and hope you come back Wednesday for the update.

Take Care,

Jonathan

It’s the midweek update!

Hey All, hope everyone is having a nice week.  The weather is crisp, I’ve still got leftovers from Thanksgiving in my freezer and I’m preparing myself for the next wave of insanity.  That insanity is of course called Christmas.

My Aunt and Uncle always do a traditional, English breakfast on Christmas morning.  It’s your basic, awesome fry up with eggs, stewed tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, nine thousand different types of bangers and of course the most glorious of meats, bacon.

Unfortunately my aunt and uncle are getting on in years and wont be hosting the traditional breakfast this year.  Instead my sister has decided to take up the mantle and host.  This is of course very generous of her to do this, but I am filled with some trepidation and dread about my sister taking over this hallowed tradition.

Not because she’s incapable or a bad host, no, it’s far more potentially disastrous.  You see, my sister is a vegetarian.

There, I said it.

Now I have nothing wrong with vegetarians.  I myself have cut down my consumption of meat dramatically and eat far more protein laden vegetables than I have in the past.  But of course I do eat meat…I’m not  maniac.

But, should a vegetarian be in charge of such a meat-centric holiday occasion?

I don’t know.  I have been told that of course there will be a fine selection of meats, both in tube form and of course those lovely, squiggly, nitrate sticks I hold so dear.

I am currently taking people at their word, and live in hope.  But come December 25th, if any person says to me…”No, it’s tofu, just try it, it tastes just like bacon.”  I’m putting a horse head in their bed while they sleep.

Just sayin’.

Now, let’s get on with the hackery and pluggery.

Have you heard that the Hungry Monster book review gave my novel The Geek five out of five stars in its review?  I know!  Crazy right!?  Well I’m pretty stoked about it, and if you’d like to read the review yourself, check it out here http://bit.ly/1MAAyZQ

Why not check out my amazon author’s page (it’s quite witty) and pick up a copy for yourself in ebook or paperback.  Of course as an ebook it’s available everywhere but for old school paperback head to amazon.

Now that’s a snazzy cover baby!

You can also pick up a copy of my kindle exclusive D’jinn and Other Stories, only available on amazon as an ebook and totally free if you have kindle unlimited.  http://amzn.to/1MwzPG6

Over on my blog Reluctant Joy it’s another micro story fitting my theme of esoteric meanderings entitled AIR http://bit.ly/rljywp

Over on Stuff & Stuff my friend Tyler stops by with his buddy Josh and we talk Fallout 4, sex with robots, parenting skills and Tyler reveals his PC over console snobbery. http://bit.ly/1KOLDsH

And now for the usual crap and one new piece.

Follow me on Twitter blahblahblah http://bit.ly/1YIWqZA

Facebook!  It’s like a book, for faces but it’s not a book and you get bombarded with creepy ads related to things you’ve looked at online while away from facebook.  It’s really just Mark Zuckerberg’s way of telling you that he cares and is watching absolutely everything you do online.  If that sort of thing sounds double-plus good to you why not like and follow me there http://bit.ly/fnbrjwp

And hey I’ve even got a goodreads author page now…I think I’m really starting to get the hang of this whole 21st century thing http://bit.ly/1XpMF4k

Well I hope everybody has a great rest of the week and that you enjoy your weekend too.

See you all Monday.

Best,

Jonathan
